TULSA, OK -- A man was badly burned when his push lawn mower came into contact with a downed power line in a vacant lot in North Tulsa just after 10 a.m. Sunday.

Elisban Mamani suffered severe burns to his back and feet while mowing a vacant lot at 124 N. Peoria, next to Allied Contract, Inc.

"It appears that either an electric line fell on him while he was mowing, or he ran over it," said Tulsa Police Corporal Tracy Clark.

The live power line had fallen from a pole with a broken horizontal crossbar in the lot Mamani was mowing. An insulator lay on the ground near the push mower.

Mamani was transported with burns to Hillcrest Hospital.

"It looked like he had some severe burns," Clark said.

Public Service of Oklahoma was on the scene and had shut off electricity to the line.
