TULSA, OK -- Some of the country's best up and coming golfers are in Tulsa this week for the U.S. Amateur Golf Tournament.

The U.S. Amateur is the oldest golf championship in the country and this year it is being played at Southern Hills Country Club and Cedar Ridge.

The championship is also pumping millions of dollars back into the city of Tulsa and neighboring communities.

Each golfer participating in the championship brings a team of four with them and then there are the spectators.

At least two of Tulsa's major hotels are booked and officials with the Tulsa Convention and Visitors Bureau say many others are at or near capacity.

"This is definitely an economic boon for Tulsa. A couple million dollars of economic impact. There are 312 players and each one of those players will bring four people with them," said Suzann Stewart, executive director of the Tulsa Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Stewart also says the U.S. Amateur Golf Tournament will provide Tulsa with a lot of national media attention.

The tournament will air a couple of days on the Golf Network this week and then a few days on one of the major TV networks.
