Elderly Oklahoma City Woman Dies After Minor Accident

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A 97-year-old Oklahoma City woman has died after apparently backing her car into a ditch.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a trooper on patrol spotted the top of the car in a ditch in northeast Oklahoma City. When he checked on the car, he located the body of Lorna McKemie.

The OHP says that after an investigation, it is believed that McKemie was driving down a street about 10 a.m. Monday when she came to a dead end and backed up her vehicle into the
4-foot-by-25-foot ditch.

Troopers say it's thought she exited her car and tried to walk up the hill, lost her footing and fell, striking her head and sliding back down the hill.

McKemie was pronounced dead at the scene.
