TULSA, OK -- Monday marked the end of an era for Tulsa sports. The Tulsa Drillers played their last game in the old Drillers Stadium in midtown Monday evening.

A number of fans came out to see the the final game at Drillers Stadium before the team makes its move downtown. They made their way inside to cheer for their team one last time in their classic venue on the Tulsa County Fairgrounds.

On the field, crews made their final laps on the lawnmower preparing for a bittersweet goodbye.

Drillers Stadium holds 29 years of history, from record-breaking homeruns to helping kick off the tremendous career of legendary major league player Sammy Sosa.

The team's CEO, Chuck Lamson, says Monday was a special night for Drillers fans although he realizes many of them don't want to say goodbye.

"There's some, I'm sure mixed emotions," said Chuck Lamson of the Tulsa Drillers."But at the same time, I'm sure there is a lot of excitement that goes on with the new, in the new ballpark and the new amenities and all that.

"So hopefully people will come out tonight to celebrate what Drillers stadium has meant to them. As well as that the future of baseball in Tulsa is secure."
