SAND SPRINGS, OK -- Shooting fast and shooting straight are the business of the weekend at Zink Ranch. The Red Castle Gun Club is holding a meet. And, it is like a scene from the Wild West complete with spurs, six-guns and 10 gallon hats.
They call it Buzzard Gulch, an old western town that's really a shooting range. Shooters are getting ready for the Ruckus in the Nations, a big single action shooting match this weekend.
"It's a timed accuracy event. We shoot live ammo at steel targets," said Bill Bell.
Burly Bill Bell is the mayor of Buzzard Gulch and in charge of the event. He says there will be 60 or more shooters taking part from several states.
"Texas people coming up. Kansas people coming down," said Bill Bell.
They'll be shooting single action weapons designed before 1900. They can be modern mad, but from the antique design. And, everybody is in period dress
They shoot all their weapons against the clock. You get a penalty for misses and the quickest overall time wins.
Ron Weindorf's been competing for only about a year, but as you can see he's all in.
"Sixty-year-old man dressed like a cowboy shooting real guns. Ain't nothin' better," said Ron Weindorf.
The Ruckus runs through the weekend at the Red Castle Gun Club on Zink Ranch.
