CLAREMORE---If you've ever had the desire to fly like a bird you should make the trip to Cherokee Casino's Will Rogers Downs this weekend. Hundreds of Powered Parachute pilots will be gracing the skies in their fantastic flying machines and even giving rides at The 2009 Powrachute Extravaganza.

‘We're using a parachute for a wing, which is a safety-device,' explained Powrachute's owner Jeff Williams, ‘it's fully inflated and ready to fly before we ever leave the ground.'

Powered parachuting has grown in popularity lately due to the safety and low cost of the PPCs, and is considered one of the safest forms of aviation.

Saturday and Sunday morning hundreds of the planes will be dotting the skies over Claremore and the public is to come out and watch these slow-flying aircraft.

Cherokee Casino's Will Rogers Downs is located at 20900 S. 4200 Road off Highway 20 just east of Claremore.
