TULSA, OK -- A man is dead following a vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of the Creek Turnpike. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports the victim is 23-year-old Deven Duke White of Broken Arrow.

White was eastbound on the Creek Turnpike when he left the roadway to the right, striking a delineator, according to OHP.

White's Jeep Cherokee struck a tree, going into a broad slide and then striking another tree before coming to rest, OHP reports. The driver lost control about 100 yards before the Memorial exit ramp.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Tulsa Police and Fire Departments and EMSA responded to the scene at about 4:15 p.m. Monday.

EMSA pronounced the man dead at the scene. White died due to head, trunk internal and external injuries, as well as arm and leg injuries, according to an OHP report.

OHP reports White was wearing his seatbelt and airbags did deploy. They are investigating why the SUV left the roadway.

Traffic was backed up from Memorial to Riverside.
