UNDATED -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is cracking down on people who aren't wearing their seatbelts. Troopers spent Thursday morning in Creek County after a recent survey there showed that more than 25% of people in pickups don't buckle up.

That statistic is significantly worse than the state average.

"You know, I think that there's a public misconception or false sense of security that if a person is in a pickup truck that they don't have to buckle up and, that's totally wrong," said Lt. George Brown of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

"They're just as at risk as anyone in a car."

In four hours, troopers wrote 57 tickets and more of half of those went to people in pickups. In fact, one man was stopped twice and received two tickets.
