Airline Employees Helping Tulsa Red Cross Chapter

TULSA, OK -- Southwest Airlines employees have partnered with the American Red Cross to show support for people displaced by disasters across the nation.

The Dallas-based air carrier in a news release, says they have encouraged their employees to "Share the Spirit" by collecting, assembling and distributing "Comfort Kits" to Red Cross chapters like the one in Tulsa.

So far, Southwest Airlines employees have assembled 25 kits and delivered them to the Red Cross.

In the last year, the local Red Cross helped more than 2,200 people in northeast Oklahoma affected by disasters, especially house fires.

"The Red Cross is grateful to the employees at Southwest Airlines for donating essential items that will help individuals affected by disasters," says Joe Becker, Senior Vice President, Disaster Services, American Red Cross.

The white bags marked with the Red Cross logo contain personal hygiene supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, combs, razors and more.

The Red Cross provides kits to every family affected by a home fire and are often made available to people at Red Cross shelters.
