Jenks Athletic Department Investigation Costs Nearly $30,000

JENKS, Oklahoma -- The independent investigation of the Jenks athletic department will cost Jenks Public Schools $29,623.

Tulsa law firm Rosenstein, Fist & Ringold was hired by Jenks to look into the policies, procedures and past practices of the Jenks athletic department, specifically relating to issues involving Jenks student-athletes.

The information, obtained through an open records request, had two separate invoices from Rosenstein, Fist & Ringold. The first bill was for work completed through 8/31/09 and cost $13,836. The second invoice was activity billed through 9/30/09 and had a fee of $15,787.50.

The money to pay for the investigation will come from general operating funds, according to Jenks Public Schools director of communications Tara Thompson.

The investigation conducted by Tulsa attorney J. Douglass Mann revealed a myriad of issues and violations with the Jenks football team, leading to the indefinite suspensions of head football coach Allan Trimble and assistant coach David Alexander.

The report concluded that Jenks had repeatedly violated recruiting and residency rules with Jenks wide receiver Jarrett Lake and six other unnamed students.

Trimble will forfeit $8,121.50 in coaching salary, while Jenks athletic director Tony Dillingham is set to lose $4,681 during a 15-day unpaid suspension.
