Three World War II Vets To Head Tulsa's Veterans Day Parade

The nation's fifth largest Veterans Day Parade in the U.S. gets underway Wednesday morning in downtown Tulsa.

TULSA, OK -- The nation's fifth largest Veterans Day parade in the U.S. gets underway Wednesday morning in downtown Tulsa. 

The theme for Tulsa's 91st annual parade is "Home of the Free, Because of the Brave." 

Parade organizers say the honorees in this year's parade include parade Grand Marshall, Paul Andert.  Andert landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France on D-Day.  He also fought in the Battle of the Bulge. 

The parade's Chief of Staff, Sam Childers is a retired Tulsa businessman.  He joined the Merchant Marine in 1945 and served aboard the SS Marine Angel.

And the parade commander William Beal, who joined the Navy in 1941.  Beal is a retired Broken Arrow elementary school principal who partipated in the Battle of Midway.  

Wednesday's parade starts at 11 a.m.
