Tulsa Police: 9-Month-Old Near-Drowning Victim Dies

TULSA, OK -- A nine-month-old child has died following a near drowning incident at a Tulsa apartment complex on Wednesday. 

Tulsa Police say James Dawson was pronounced dead Thursday. 

The incident happened at the Yacht Club Apartments in the 5000 block of South Toledo.

Police say the child's mother was in the kitchen of her apartment at the time doing dishes. They say a 19-month-old child and the 9-month-old child were both in the tub in the bathroom.

The mother discovered the child in the tub, and he was rushed to a Tulsa hospital. Police at the scene initially told The News On 6 that the 9-month-old was found in a puddle on the bathroom floor.

Tulsa Police say an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
