Arrest Made In Connection With A Tulsa House Fire

TULSA, OK -- A house fire overnight Monday results in two residents taken to a Tulsa hospital and a suspect is booked into the Tulsa County jail in connection with starting a second house fire. 

Tulsa Police say officer Filby noticed smoke coming from a home in the 1100 block of South Rockford while patrolling at around 12:15 a.m. 

Officer Filby called for help, and with the help of four other police officers, worked to rescue two people inside the home. 

Tulsa firefighters assisted and helped pull the two victims out of the home on the front lawn.  Both were transported by EMSA to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. 

At last report, both victims were listed in stable condition.

Several pets were also inside the home and were able to get out okay. 

Fire officials say the cause of this fire was discarded cigarettes.

Another midtown Tulsa home was also damaged by fire early Monday and resulted in the arrest of 36-year-old Donnie Russell. 

This fire happened near 27th and Louisville just after 2 a.m. 

Firefighters arrived to find the first floor of the home fully engulfed. 

Crews say eight residents lived in the home, but only two were inside at the time of the fire. 

No one was hurt.

Shortly after the fire, investigators arrested Russell and booked him into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of first degree arson and manufacture of a controlled substance.
