TULSA, OK -- John 3:16 in Tulsa is helping feed the needy this Thanksgiving holiday. The Mission expects to donate 5,000 to 7,000 turkey baskets.
Thousands lined up Monday at the downtown mission to receive those Thanksgiving food baskets.
Organizers say they've seen a 51% increase in people needing help this holiday season compared to last. They expect to help more than 6,000 families in the next three days.
"The people that are behind us are Tulsans, they're people they've gone to church with they go to school with we want to remind people that these are people from our community," said Steve Whitaker, Executive Director of the John 3:16 Mission.
John 3:16 will be giving out food baskets Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Mission still needs donations, if you'd like to help please visit their web site.
