TULSA---You may see artist Jill Leslye on the streets of Tulsa working in one of her paintings. This week she was on Cherry Street beginning a painting of the shops and the people if the quaint 15th street neighborhood. Her paintings are so detailed she frequently uses a pin as a brush. For this folk artist it's all about the folks.

‘ It's a way of meeting people, getting involved in the neighborhood in the area,' she said, ‘it's the mailman that comes by, it's the people that are homeless, I'm really making people feel better for their time when they see my work.'

Jill sells copies of her paintings as well as the originals which may be found on Cherry Street hanging in Pierson Gallery. Jill's painting take up to several months to complete.

‘The longer you are there you see who passes by, when they pass by, you get to know them…they come over and talk to me,' she said, ‘some as I can I will put in my painting.'

So smile at Jill as you pass her, you may end up being the next Mona Lisa.
