Sand Springs Boy Killed In Four-Wheeler Accident

SAND SPRINGS, OK -- A 6-year-old Sand Springs boy was killed Wednesday when he wrecked a four-wheeler on a homemade dirt track.

Daniel Brock Smith-Maynard was pronounced dead of head injuries at a Tulsa hospital.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers, Smith-Maynard was driving a 2002 Yamaha Banshee four-wheeler on a homemade dirt track at his grandfather's house when he took a curve too fast and lost control.

The ATV rolled one time, and the boy landed about three feet from the ATV.

The accident happened at about 6:23 p.m. in the 6500 block of West 16th Street.

Smith-Maynard was wearing a helmet, according to the trooper's report.
