OWASSO, Oklahoma – With the holiday shopping season in full swing, shoppers are facing the normal hassle of finding the right place to park.

But in Owasso the Holly Trolley is coming to the rescue.

The trolley takes shoppers from shopping center to shopping center all across town.

"I think it's great," Owasso resident Sue Britt said. "My grandkids were real excited to ride it, and they're having a good time talking to Santa Claus."

The Holly Trolley makes 12 stops at six different shopping centers in Owasso each Saturday through Christmas. With more people avoiding traffic in Tulsa, and now shopping in Owasso, the city started offering the service three years ago.

Officials added three more stops due to growing popularity from shoppers and retailers hoping to fare well in a down economy.

"It's different and I think that people like the convenience," said Chelsea Harkins, Owasso Economic Development Director.

"Our retailers and restaurants, more and more of them are wanting to be a Holly Trolley stop. It definitely brings more customers to their locations."

The service is free and runs each Saturday through December 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Santa Claus will ride the trolley from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
