TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa police officer was rushed to the hospital Saturday night after getting hit by a car.

Police say the officer was off-duty and helping direct traffic for a Church On the Move event at about 8:00 p.m. near 129th East Avenue and I-244.

"A driver going northbound on 169 did not see him until it was too late," said Captain Karen Tipler, Tulsa Police.

Captain Tipler said a driver was trying to get onto I-244, didn't see the officer and hit him.

TPD isn't releasing the officer's name. They say the officer has a broken leg, but is going to be fine.
