Today marks 68 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor and some Green Country elementary students got a special lesson on the historic day.

Sequoyah Elementary School held a dedication ceremony today for a new flagpole and plaque in honor of Pearl Harbor.

The school also invited area veterans to meet and speak with the children about their experiences.

"They want us to be free and they serve that it makes me feel thankful that they do that and I'm really happy," said Miguel Rodriguez, fourth grader.

The school's principal say he hopes today's assembly teaches children that all the things they have, didn't come without sacrifice.
