Voters Approve Broken Arrow School Bond Issue

BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Voters in Broken Arrow have approved the school district's $295 million school bond. 

About 70% of the voters said yes to Propositions I and II. Proposition I was for $285 million in building upgrades and II was for bus purchases totaling $10 million. 

Voter turnout was a record for a Broken Arrow School bond election.

"We are so thankful to our voters and supporters for their approval of what many of us at Broken Arrow Public Schools consider the most critical bond issue in the history of the school district," Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Gary Gerber said.

Dr. Gerber credited a groundswell of support for the bond issue's success.

"It is significant that various local groups, organizations and even media outlets who examined our proposal supported passage of this bond issue in a very public way," said Dr. Gary Gerber.

Every school will receive benefits from the bond issue. Removal of portable buildings was a big focus of the bond.
