TULSA, OK -- Tulsa police responded to a drive by shooting in the 3100 block of East Virgin Drive early Saturday morning. A woman called in to say she had been asleep with her young daughter when someone pulled up the house and fired several rounds into her car that was parked in front of the home at about 2:45 a.m.
One round went through the window and struck the woman in the chest, according to on-scene reports. The child was not injured.
Police told The News On 6 that the weapon appeared to be an assault rifle. There were shell casings on the ground in front of the home.
The drive-by shooting is still under investigation. The woman was transported by EMSA to a local hospital. The wound did not appear to be life threatening.
