STILLWATER, OK -- In a game that was overshadowed by a potentially serious injury to Kingfisher quarterback Derek Patterson, the Lincoln Christian Bulldogs came away with a 35-0 victory in the Class 2A finals Saturday to earn the first state championship in the school's history.
With Lincoln Christian up 21-0 late in the first half, Patterson hit his head on the sideline wall and had to be taken to the hospital.
The game was delayed for more than 20 minutes and Kingfisher was unable to recover physically or emotionally. The Yellowjackets' offense could not get anything going in the second half, allowing Lincoln Christian to run away with the game.
