TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa area weather forecast calls for very cold temperatures every morning for the week of January 4th.

With that in mind, Union Public Schools officials say if parents of students who ride the bus or walk to school find it necessary to drive their children instead, elementary schools will open their doors a half hour earlier than usual.

For the remainder of this week, Union elementary school principals will open their buildings at 8:00 a.m. rather than 8:30 a.m.

Secondary school students are not affected by the change since their buildings are already open by 8:00 a.m.

Union officials say their goal is to keep school open as many days as possible while working to assist with issues the cold temperatures may present. Buildings will open at their usual times for the week of January 11th, unless circumstances warrant a different scenario.
