OKLAHOMA CITY -- As the recovery effort in Haiti intensifies, the faithful across Oklahoma are keeping the devastated country in their prayers. One congregation is sending help to Haiti to serve those they consider family.

In the wake of the earthquake that rocked Haiti, Journey Church has been working around the clock through songs and in prayers. The church has been committed to helping Haiti for years with the Mission of Hope.

The group just came back from a mission trip last month and in this Sunday's service, they called for help for those they've embraced.

"When you see kids, it's really where it gets overwhelming of what can we do and what can we do quick to help them," said Journey Church Pastor Clark Mitchell.

Pastor Clark Mitchell shared the devastation and the suffering of their friends across the world. They're in desperate need for basic necessities and they need help now. Journey Church is selling t-shirts to help raise money for the victims in Haiti.

"The $15 will go to water, food and med supplies. We'll be cutting them a check first thing in the morning," said Journey Church member Chris Hamilton.

The congregation of more than 4,000 is also building a medical team to join in on the international relief efforts to bring healing and hope.

"Hope to them is not a new care or a new job, it's just water for the day and it's genuine people who truly love each other," Pastor Mitchell said.

"You just feel heartache. You just want to do something so bad," said Chris Hamilton. "First group we're going to send over there are doctors, EMTs and nurses, and I encourage them to go. I'm a pharmaceutical rep so I'm going to ask physicians if they're willing to donate their time and help out there."

Chris and his wife Lisa Hamilton have been praying every day for the victims, hoping the power of prayer can help heal Haiti.

"It's hard. It's hard that those faces you've come to love and care about and they're like yours," said Lisa Hamilton.

This Sunday, Journey Church raised $10,000 for Mission of Hope.
