RAMONA, OK -- The Cherokee Nation will be breaking ground Thursday for its newest casino.  This one will be located north of Ramona in Washington County.

According to a news release, Cherokee Nation Entertainment will be building its eighth casino in northeastern Oklahoma.

The gaming operation is designed to be implemented in two phases, ultimately creating more than 100 jobs in the area over the next two years.

"Our goal is first and foremost to create good-paying, stable jobs in our Cherokee communities," said David Stewart, CEO of CNE. "We have proven that our gaming operations are an asset to the communities in which we reside. The city of Ramona recognizes this and has been a very welcoming and great partner to work with."

The 10,000-square-foot casino will initially include more than 200 electronic games and concession-type food and beverage offerings.

The new Cherokee Casino Ramona will be located on a 20-acre site west of U.S. Highway 75 and about a quarter mile north of the Ramona.
