Muskogee Teen Shot In Apparent Accident

A 13-year-old Muskogee teen was shot in the stomach in what police believe was an accident gun discharge. The juveniles at the house initially told police it was a drive-by shooting.

MUSKOGEE, OK -- A 13-year-old Muskogee teen was wounded in an apparent accident early Thursday evening. Muskogee police responded to the call in the 200 block of North 48th Street at about 5:45 p.m. with the initial report of a drive-by shooting.

When they arrived at the house, they found several juveniles including one boy who had a gunshot wound to the stomach. The juveniles initially told police there had been a drive-by shooting, but on further investigation officers discovered the wound was most likely the result of an accidental discharge.

The injured 13-year-old was transported by Muskogee County EMS to the Muskogee Regional Medical Center.

There were no reports of any arrests in the incident.
