OKLAHOMA CITY – Several FBI divisions are searching for a man suspected of 18 bank robberies across 12 states.

There are plenty of photos of this serial bank robber, but few leads on who he is or where he'll strike next. What FBI agents do know is he likes to travel. In one year, he's targeted 18 banks in 16 cities, including the Valley National Bank in Tulsa, and the FBI said in each robbery, it's the same thing:

"Unfortunately he's fairly routine in his M.O. going in, presenting a demand note, threatening he has a weapon, which is very traumatic for a teller," said FBI agent Michael K. MacLean.

A nation-wide electronic billboard campaign has been launched in an effort to locate and identify the suspect known as the "Granddad Bandit."

"Working together with Lamar Outdoor Advertising and other electronic billboard owners, we now have the capability to instantly display a wanted suspect's face to an audience of thousands throughout multiple states," said Richard Lambert, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Knoxville Field Office."This case is an emblematic example of the importance of public/private sector alliances in bringing criminals to justice in today's information age."

"Lamar wants to be good stewards of the community, not only in Oklahoma City but in the multi-state effort, and it just makes sense for us to partner up with them in this endeavor," said Bill Condon, Lamar Outdoor Advertising.

The Oklahoma Banker's Association applauds the FBI and Lamar's team effort to catch this traveling thief. Elaine Dodd said it's only a matter of time before the Granddad Bandit's time is up.

"We're going to catch him. He's slippery right now, but it's going to come to an end and we're going to find him," said Elaine Dodd, Oklahoma Banker's Association.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6' tall, weighing 210-230 pounds. Additionally, the suspect may be driving a silver sport utility vehicle.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information should contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or their local law enforcement office.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this individual.
