MOORE, Oklahoma -- Police in Moore are still trying to figure out how handcuffed suspect able to drive off with one of their patrol cars. Newly released dash cam video show what happened.

Moore police pursued Adam Barr until his truck broke down. Police were able to arrest Barr, but not without incident. The dash cam video shows officers had to rehandcuff Barr after he slipped the handcuffs from behind his back. Minutes later, Barr is able to slip the handcuff from behind his back again, but this time he jumped out of the back seat of the police car and into the driver's seat. Barr then took off in the patrol car.

"It's not a good thing. It's very embarrassing," said Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis.

Police said Barr used the officer's personal cell phone to call his girlfriend during the chase, and about a minute later, he crashed.

"He, somehow was able to tear up pretty much every side of the car. He almost rolled the car. It hit side to side going through the intersection, almost hit a tree," Lewis said.

While the video doesn't show officers in a good light, Sergeant Lewis said it does serve a purpose, which is to inform the public.

"The public deserves to know. They bought the patrol car. They deserve to know why it crashed," Lewis said.

Police are not releasing the name of the officer whose car was stolen. He has not been placed on paid administrative leave, but he has been taken off patrol and re-assigned while an investigation is performed.
