Tulsa Police Seeking HeIp Solving 2009 Fatal Hit And Run

TULSA, OK -- The death of a man struck by a pickup truck in the early hours of June 27, 2009 has now been ruled a homicide. 

Tulsa Police say officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of East Virgin Street about a man who had been struck by a pickup truck.

Police say 34-year-old Alfonso Amaya was taken to a Tulsa hospital. 

He died on July 31, 2009. 

Tulsa Police say a witness to the incident stated Amaya was walking east and began an argument with the driver of a pickup truck.  The witness told officers the Amaya walked away, but not before the driver of the pickup truck accelerated, striking Amaya from behind. 

Police say they are still looking for the driver.  The only thing they have at this point, is that the pickup was a dark colored full size pickup truck or an SUV. 

The state Medical Examiner's Office report states the victim died due to complications of multiple blunt forces injuries received in the collision.
