TULSA, OK -- Some of the students at Grissom Elementary in Tulsa are doing more than school work.
They've been getting up early to put in laps around the track in the 4th year of the Grissom 100 Mile Club.
"It's kind of hard to get up early and get here at 7:20," admitted Reece Jones, "but it's good energy to get ready for school."
Reece has logged 200 miles as of Tuesday, but lags behind current leader Nicole Dingle who has run 249 miles so far this year.
Physical education teacher Mike Mills thought up the program but credits the kids with making it a success. To date the 70+ students involved in the club have logged 7,639 miles.
The 100 Mile Club meets Monday through Thursday at 7:20 am.
