TULSA, OK -- At Tulsa's new ONEOK field, construction crews are in the bottom of the 9th, and working on all the finishing touches.

"The trees and the lights are going in; the brick's already in, the pavement is all done," said Bob Jack of Manhattan Construction. "So the park, the approach to the stadium, will be ready for everybody on April 8th."

The new stadium will feature a unique touch. Medallions in Tulsa's art-deco style, measuring 4 x 4 foot, are going up around the exterior of ONEOK field. The 21 cast mason medallions honor Tulsa's and Baseball's past - things like Jackie Robinson and oil derricks.

"We tried to pick seven different, unique topics that provided some great insight into the stadium and into the setting," Jack said.

While the cast masonry medallions are going up, others are finishing up last minute work.

"We've been really busy," said Jerry Claybrook of AMAX Signs.

And some fans, like Bill Witt, are getting a look at their seats for the upcoming season.

"Above the third base dugout, in the front row, so we'll be ready for any foul balls or anything coming our way," said Drillers fan Bill Witt.

People are amazed at how the park is turning out to be a Tulsa treasure.

"I think it looks great. It looks really nice, a big improvement for this area," Claybrook said.

"It's amazing. I'm looking forward to it. It's excellent," said fan Bill Witt.

Crews are just about ready to finish all the last minute projects and cleanup while everyone is looking forward to opening night.

"We think the outcome is extremely spectacular," said Bob Jack of Manhattan Construction.

Opening night for ONEOK field and the Tulsa Drillers is April 8th. Tickets are going fast.

The actual seats are sold out for that first game, but there are still $5 tickets available for the grassy area.
