TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa business is in charge of blowing up one of the country's most iconic football stadiums.

Dykon Explosive Demolition Corporation will be blowing up Texas Stadium next weekend.

Company officials head to Dallas Sunday. They spoke with The News On 6 before leaving town.

Jim Redyke of Dykon Explosive Demolition Corporation likes to blow things up.

"We just did a 15-story in Qatar about two months ago, a seven-year-old building," said Redyke.

Redyke's next task is to demolish the former home of the Dallas Cowboys.

He showed the Dallas media how he plans to take down the 40-year-old building.

"I've done bigger structures, but this is probably the most complex," said Redyke.

Redyke is using more than 2,000 pounds of explosives to take down Texas Stadium. The first charge will go off outside one of the end zones, then a series of 55 detonations a half second apart on both sides of the stadium, ending in the opposite end zone.

"It's pulling the building in, all of that stuff, all of the cross beams will pull itself in," said Redyke.

Redyke has been in the explosive business since the mid 70's. He has blown up buildings, water towers, parking garages, you name it. In each case, the plan is time the explosions to where the structure falls in on itself.

"Each charge is timed to go down in a particular sequence and that determines the direction of fall," said Ed Dunn, Dykon Explosive Demolition Corporation.

Despite the fame of his next job and despite that Redyke is a Cowboys fan, it's business as usual as this Tulsan takes on a place built to give God a front row seat.

"I don't relate the two together. I know this is an iconic structure. I'm focusing on getting the job done and not thinking about who did what to who and all that," said Redyke.
