OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association has sent back to committee a proposal on how non-public high schools in the state are classified for athletic competition.
The board met Tuesday to consider the proposal from a 17-person committee that examined perceived inequities between public schools and private and other non-public schools.
Some board members voiced concerns about the multiplying factor and how it would apply to some private schools and not others.
Several athletic directors from private schools attended the meeting. They are worried how the change could affect their sports competitively because it could place them in a higher classification.
The board eventually voted to have the committee conduct further study on the issue.
