OKLAHOMA CITY -- Despite a Medical Examiner's ruling, Don and Kay Wilcoxson don't believe their only grandchild committed suicide.
Last month the M.E. ruled Stephanie Wilcoxson, 11, killed herself in December via acute methadone intoxication.
"It wasn't her personality or character or whatever you want to call it to do anything like that. It just was not her," Don Wilcoxson said.
The Wilcoxsons said want answers.
"We'd like to know how and why. How she got into the methadone, you know, and why," Kay Wilcoxson said
The girl's body was found at her mother's home in Noble shortly before Christmas. Investigators with the OSBI said they believed the child had been dead for several days, and that her mother had to have known it.
Now the Wilcoxsons are hanging on to a present they had planned to give Stephanie at Christmas. It's a necklace that has the girl's named spelled in Egyptian hieroglyphics.
"Stephanie was really into hieroglyphics," Don Wilcoxson said. "She liked the Egyptian stories on TV and all this kind of thing."
Stephanie was buried in Blanchard, next to her father.
No charges have been filed in connection with Stephanie's death.
Janice Wilcoxson said on the advice of her lawyer, she has no comment at this time about her daughter's death.
