TULSA, OK -- Firefighters battled flames overnight Saturday at a Tulsa medical building.

Firefighters responded just before 2 a.m. to the Gilcrease Medical Center Inc., Gary R. Lee MD, located at 2039 West Edison.

Firefighters were tipped off to the fire after receiving a report of smoke near Gilcrease Museum Road and Edison. Firefighters responded to the area and found the building engulfed in flames, forcing firefighters to fight the flames from outside.

Additional firefighters were called to the area to control any sparks from the fire that could have endangered nearby homes and a shopping center.

The Tulsa Fire Department reports one firefighter who overextended himself was treated at the scene by EMSA. The firefighter is ok. No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters said the building appeared to be vacant and is a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
