TULSA, OK -- The City of Tulsa is pursuing a tentative deal to swap 17 acres of land near the airport for the old Tulsa Fire Department Headquarters building.

The Tulsa Opera owns the land near the airport that is being offered for the swap, and according to the City, would use the downtown building as their new offices.

City of Tulsa Economic Development Director Mike Bunney said "the east part of downtown has remained dormant with a lot of property unoccupied, for sale and so I'm really interested in it being the first domino to fall" when it comes to redeveloping downtown.

Bunney said the land is at the intersection of Sheridan Avenue and Port Road, and the city is interested in developing it as an industrial park.
