Drivers Complain About Traffic At Tulsa QT Air Show

TULSA, OK -- The News On 6 has received several calls about traffic tie-ups from drivers headed out to the QuikTrip Air and Rocket Racing Show Saturday.

One user told the News On 6 it took him 90 minutes to go from Highway 169 & 46th Street North to his parking spot.

The show is impacting drivers near the airport. Some roads will be closed during performances and access to the Tulsa Zoo will be through a detour.

Traffic going to the air show must use 46th Street westbound to get to the site. Signs will direct traffic to the parking areas.

According to the City of Tulsa, Port Road will be closed between 74th East Avenue and Mohawk Park Road. Portions of Sheridan Road will be closed as well until the air show is over.

Zoo visitors will need to use Hwy 75 and exit at 36th Street North, or drive North on Yale Avenue to a detour into a back entrance.

The air show will be visible along several roads that will be open, but the City does not allow parking along the right of way. The air show will be south of Mohawk Park, portions of which will remain open for traffic.

A spokesperson for Tulsa International Airport, Alexis Higgins, says commercial air traffic will not be disrupted by the air show, which will be oriented around the shorter, general aviation runway on the west side of the airport. Commercial airlines will use the longer runway on the east side.
