TULSA, OK -- The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is seeking public input for an $87 million bridge replacement project on westbound I-244 over the Arkansas River in Tulsa.

This project has recently been awarded a nearly $50 million TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) Grant, and is considered one of the top projects in the country to receive this funding.

The replacement proposal involves building a new "multi-modal" bridge at the location, which would incorporate the westbound highway, two dedicated future rail lines and an area for bicycle/pedestrian traffic into a double-decker style bridge.

A meeting is scheduled to gather public input, which will help planners identify any social, economic and environmental impacts that may result from the project. No official decision regarding the future of the bridge will be made at the meeting.

Meeting Information:

  • Thursday, April 29th
  • 6 p.m.
  • Tulsa Community College – Center for Creativity Event Hall
  • 910 South Boston Ave. in Tulsa

Written comments will be taken until May 14, 2010. Comments can be submitted at the meeting, or by sending to: Environmental Programs Division Engineer, c/o ODOT, 200 N. E. 21st St., Oklahoma City, OK 73105.

Persons requiring special accommodations for the meeting can contact Craig Moody, ODOT Public Involvement Officer, at (405) 522-1465 or cmoody@odot.org prior to the meeting.
