TULSA, OK -- Their race around the world took them 40,000 miles from the Oklahoma plains.

Jet and Cord McCoy, the cowboys from the "Amazing Race," made an exclusive pit stop at the News On Six Friday.

They're the best-traveled cowboys on the planet and they've become fan favorites all over the world.

Whether saddling a wooden horse, or hitting the soccer field, they brought Oklahoma's can-do spirit on a marathon adventure.

It was an amazing race that started in a southern Oklahoma cow pen. Cord and Jet McCoy are brothers, cowboys, and comedians.

"Riding bulls is more dangerous Jet said. "But the race takes a lot longer."

"Yeah, the bull riding is usually eight seconds," Cord said. "Sometimes, less than eight for me."

"Yeah," Jet said, laughing.

The pair was discovered by a talent scout who immediately offered them a place on the race, and their own theme music.

It was a team of four. Two brothers and two hats that rarely left their heads, even when bungee jumping.

"They told us when we left, 'if you lose you hats, we're not bringing' them back to you or getting 'em," Cord said. "And they kinda made us aware of that. And me and Jet was like…"

"Don't worry, we'll be okay," Jet McCoy interrupted.

"I've worn this hat since I was about five years old," Cord said.

"He told me that like three times," Jet said. "He's like, 'no really, you need to take your hat off.' And finally, I was like, 'no really, I'm leaving my hat on.'"

"I don't think they slowed us down too much," Cord said.

The pair certainly wore many hats along the race, like when Jet became a Chinese chef. But that just meant little brother doubled up.

The Okie-isms seemed to slip out when the cowboys were under the gun.

"Dag gummit," Jet said.

"Oh my gravy," Cord said.

"What do you think, Cord?  You think it's easier to ride bulls or hunt for clothes?" Jet asked.

"Well, personal preference, bull riding is starting to look way easier," Cord replied.

One challenge in particular, drinking a cowboy boot full of beer, turned one cowboy into a non-drinker.

"I have not had a single beer since," Jet said. "And probably won't, as a matter of fact."

The two hit rough waters in the Seychelles, leaving a clue behind, and finishing last.

"It was so simple what we had to do to win first," Cord said.  "And where we made the little mistakes, took us all the way to last, and we about drowned in the ocean."

"It was a sinking feeling," Jet said.  "I mean, we thought that when we were coming down the beach there that that was the end for us."

But the McCoys were given a second chance. They made "Amazing Race" history, expertly acing their next challenges and going from worst to first.

But their biggest frustration came on the final leg, when the team that would eventually win managed to leapfrog them in line.

"We were there five hours before they got there and then he walked up and kinda nonchalantly, just kind drops his bag there,"Jet said. "We didn't think nothin' about it."

"I don't think you can actually grab his backpack and throw him across the airport," Cord said. "You'd get in trouble for that."

"Yeah, I think I'd get in trouble for kickin' his teeth in too," Jet said.

"Yeah, that wouldn't go over so well," said Cord.

"Probably what most of the people in Oklahoma watching thought at the time," Cord said.

"That's what we were thinking,"Jet said.

"Yeah," Cord agreed.

The cowboys crossed the finished line second, a matter of minutes behind the leader. But their adventure isn't over. The brothers won three trips along the race, South America, Alaska, and Maui.

Jet and Cord say they won't travel together to Hawaii.

"That would be negative," Jet said.

"I went around the world with my brother, Jet.  Jet of course has a wife and a daughter," Cord said. "And I got engaged. I'm getting married in November so I'm planning on using one of 'em for my honeymoon."

That may be the only selfish move either one made. Humble and polite even in defeat.

"Jet and I, when we took off, we definitely knew we were representing our family, our area, our friends, you know, our way of life," Cord said.

And Oklahoma couldn't have asked for better ambassadors.

Producers are already gauging Jet and Cord's interest on doing another tv show.
