National Weather Service Confirms Seven Tulsa Area Tornadoes Thursday

The National Weather Service says seven tornadoes touched down in the Tulsa area on Thursday morning.

TULSA, OK -- The National Weather Service says seven tornadoes touched down in the Tulsa area on Thursday morning.

A team of meteorologists surveyed storm damage on Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, one tornado started on the south side of the Port of Catoosa, went northeast across Verdigris and ended south of Claremore. Wind gusts were estimated near 120 miles-per-hour.

Another tornado path started south of Inola and ended just west of Chouteau. The National Weather service says the EF-2 had wind gusts near 115 miles-per-hour.

The third tornado started in Kiefer and went northeast into south Tulsa near 101st and Garnett. Winds were estimated near 95 miles-per-hour.

The National Weather Service says another tornado developed on the north side of Sapulpa, moved into Tulsa, and dissipated west of the Wagoner County line. Peak wind speeds were near 120 miles-per-hour.

Another tornado formed southwest of Oneta and dissipated east of the Muskogee Turnpike about five miles east of Oneta. The National Weather Service rated the tornado as an EF-2, with winds near 120 miles-per-hour.

The National Weather Service says another weak tornado formed in southern Rogers County, damaging mostly trees.

The final tornado that has been confirmed began southeast of Okmulgee and moved northeast of Morris. The EF-2 tornado had peak wind speeds of 120 miles-per-hour.

The National Weather service is still investigating other potential tornado paths, including damage from near Depew to Bristow, and southern Ottawa County.
