OKLAHOMA CITY -- Police have confirmed that a grenade was found inside a stolen sport utility vehicle in southwest Oklahoma City.
A bomb squad unit used a robot to determine the area was safe.
According to Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow, the bomb squad commander said that the object was a grenade, but that it had no explosive qualities to it.
The car was found near S.W. 25th Street and Portland Avenue. When officers looked inside the abandoned vehicle, they saw the grenade-like object inside.
Portland Avenue was closed for much of the afternoon between S.W. 23th and S.W. 25th streets.
