TULSA, OK -- The start of the third and final phase of work on the Inner Dispersal Loop in downtown Tulsa gets underway Thursday.

Those orange barrels are being moved and new lanes on part of the loop will be closed around downtown Tulsa.

On this day, its car trouble, but for Nate Giles and other drivers, for months it's been IDL issues.

"You know the devil always jumps up," Giles said.

Now one of his travel troubles is taken care of. Westbound I-244 on the north and west leg of the loop around downtown, his way to work, is open after being closed since July of last year.

"It's a real major improvement," said Giles. "Major improvement. No more of the potholes and bumps and slams and bangs, it's pretty good."

But now with phase two-westbound finished, it's time for work on phase three-eastbound. But at least that's the final phase of the $75 million stimulus funded project.

All lanes of Eastbound I-244 on the North and West sides of downtown will be closed.

That means you can't drive clockwise on the North and West legs of the IDL, but you can go all the way around on the loop around downtown Tulsa in a counter clockwise direction.

More than 20 bridge decks will be replaced, which could mean lane closures on roads underneath the interstate.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation wants drivers to watch for its daily traffic advisories.

Nate Giles will once he gets his car rolling again.

"Now it's the vehicle," Giles said. "Smooth sailing only if the car keeps going."

Though he's concerned about his car, his commute and phase three, he says that's no big deal.

"You know I made it through phase one and two so phase three should be a breeze," he said, laughing.
