Tulsa Mayor, Police Chief Encouraging Citizens To Report Crime

The Tulsa Police Department and the Mayor's Office are encouraging people to call in tips to help solve crimes.

TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa Police Department and the Mayor's Office are encouraging people to call in tips to help solve crimes.

Police Chief Chuck Jordan and Mayor Dewey Bartlett pointed to a couple of recent crimes where tips provided to be important information. 

The investigations of the robbery and shooting at a Rib Crib and a drive by shooting this past weekend were both helped with information from the public.

"The measure of our success, in my opinion on violent crime, most of it is cultural and social that we can't stop," said Chief Jordan. "We may not be able to prevent it short term, but if we have our community citizens helping us, we can certainly investigate them successfully and put the people in the jail. And that's what we were able to do this weekend, and I thank the public for that."

The Chief and Mayor are asking more people to call in those reports to help police catch criminals.
