OKLAHOMA CITY -- The chief administrative officer at the State Medical Examiner's Office has resigned, said the office's spokesperson Cherokee Ballard.

Tom Jordan was a former deputy director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. He began his position as Chief Administrative Officer just six months ago.

Read Tom Jordan's resignation email.

His departure leaves the troubled office without leadership. Jordan said he is beginning a new job in the private sector June 14.

"It's sad for the agency. We will miss him," Ballard said. "It's another step in our situation here and we'll try to figure out what's next."

The chief medical examiner, Dr. Collie M. Trant, was fired earlier this year and the deputy chief medical examiner, Eric Duval, resigned. A former M.E.'s Office Investigator is currently standing trial for sexual battery.

The office is currently searching for a new Chief Medical Examiner to oversee death investigations in our state. It's also working to reclaim it's national accreditation.
