TULSA---Today students at Grissom Elementary celebrated another milestone, 11-thousand miles walked by the students in the school's 101 Mile Club.

The early rising kids logged the miles around the school's track between 7:20 and 7:50 AM each morning. PE Instructor Mike Mills is astonished by their dedication.

‘10,000 miles is the distance from Pt. Barrow, Alaska down to the tip of South America,' Mills said, ‘so add another 1,000 miles to that!'

Each lap around the track got the students a punch on their cards which were later traded for small plastic tokens they kept on bracelets. A chart in the gym kept track of each child's progress.

So far 46 runners have exceeded 100 miles, 5 runners are over 200 miles, and both Reese Jones and Nicole Dingle have logged over 300 miles. Way to go, kids!
