TULSA, OK – The weather outside is getting warmer, and more people downtown are taking advantage and walking to lunch.
Rodney Bruer has just been open a few days. As soon as school's out his 13-year-old son will be here too. He'll handle the money while Rodney fixes the dogs, good life lessons to learn down here he says.
"Three dollars for a Nathan's, the Chicago Style Vienna is four and a Bratwurst is four," Rodney said.
Business for Rodney is pretty steady.
"I just know there are a lot of people who don't want to walk up to Bartlett Square," he said.
He's done his research and thinks there are enough hungry people in a hurry to make this work, people like George Pritchard.
"This week I've gotta make up some time, so I've gotta eat lunch quick," Pritchard said.
So he walked about a hundred yards down to the curb to get a couple of hot diggitty dogs off the cart.
Rodney's been planning for quite a while. He's taken all the Health Department classes, gone through the permit process and of course there's the cart. It all adds up to several thousand dollars.
You could do it for less than that but I wanted a bigger cart," he said.
You can get a Hot Diggitty Dog, a Bratwurst, or a Chicago Dog for lunch, Tuesdays through Fridays, at the corner of 3rd and Main downtown Tulsa.
