OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City firefighters are used to fighting the heat from fires but not inside their own fire station.
For nearly two weeks, the firefighters at Station 3 on N. MacArthur near 122nd said they've been without an air conditioner and have resorted to box fans and open windows to keep cool.
"It's very uncomfortable," said one fireman who asked we not use his name. "It was hot this weekend in here and we worried about this upcoming weekend."
Temperatures are expected to reach at least 100 in parts of the state next weekend.
City leaders said maintenance crews were last at the station on May 13, and they thought they'd fixed the problem. Since then, Oklahoma City's Director of General Services said no one has notified her office of any additional issues.
"We don't have a phone call record. We don't have a written work order record until 10 this morning, and they were out there at 2 p.m. working on it, and they don't plan to go home tonight until it's fixed.
However, once maintenance crews arrived back at Station 3 Tuesday evening, they told firefighters the problem wouldn't be fixed until Wednesday morning.
