LUTHER, Oklahoma -- Emergency crews recovered the body of a 28-year-old man who jumped into the Deep Fork River and didn't resurface Friday night.
Michael Finch's body was recovered shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, according to Luther Fire Chief Brian Martin. Finch's body was found in the general area of where he had been swimming.
Authorities said Finch was swimming with friends at the Bullhead Falls near Luther. The area is frequently used for swimming and noodling.
"The water is running fast tonight," Luther Fire Chief Brian Martin said. "It's usually a safe area for those who know it but if you are unfamiliar it can get dangerous fast. We've had several accidents in the past, even fatalities."
Authorities asked the city of Edmond to shut down the dam at Arcadia Lake to help slow the flow of the river .
Dozens of agencies worked to find Finch. They were stationed along about 15 miles of the river.
