TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa City Council is expecting at its Thursday meeting to discuss the results of the council's internal investigation into the mayor's chief of staff, Terry Simonson.

At issue is whether Simonson lied to the city council during a discussion of how a federal Department of Justice grant could be used to pay Tulsa Police officers.

Several members of the council feel Terry Simonson's statements caused the city of Tulsa to delay action on the grant, which could have prevented the layoff of at least 35 officers.

The city council hired an investigator to examine documents and interview witnesses with knowledge of the situation.

The Tulsa City Council will meet in executive session Thursday at 4 p.m., and afterward meet publicly for possible action.
