Tulsa Burglary Suspect Booked On 22 Complaints Of Stolen Property

TULSA, OK -- A man who was arrested just two weeks ago, accused of breaking into 20 homes near 101st and South Sheridan, was back behind bars Thursday night, facing nearly two dozen new charges.

Records show Joshua Sanders has sticky fingers, with convictions for stealing cars, stealing from homes and hiding stolen property; yet he keeps getting out.

When Sanders was arrested last time, police say he broke into a house, while a 13-year-old girl was home alone.

Burglary detectives learned Wednesday night that Sanders has a storage unit. So Thursday, they went there and say they found a truckload of stolen goods.

Detectives feared the worst when they opened Joshua Sanders' storage unit. They were right.

They handed out stolen gun after stolen gun after stolen gun, seven in all, rifles and shotguns. But, that wasn't all.

They say they found stolen silver and tools and stuff still in bags and boxes. They found so much that Joshua Sanders had to help direct detectives.

"There's more stuff, kinda in bags and stuff," Sanders told detectives.

In all, they say they've found items from 20 separate burglaries committed from April 2009 to May 2010, from downtown Tulsa to Jenks. They say Sanders has caused a lot of work for them and a lot of grief for families.

"You never feel the same after someone has gone through your things, even if you're not there," said Corporal Gene Watkins, Tulsa Police.

Two weeks ago, the News On 6 shot video of a handcuffed Sanders trying to help police figure out which homes some stolen property came from.

That time it was piles of jewelry, autographed baseballs and cards and more. Records show Sanders was sent to prison in 2004 for two years, but got out after 11 months.

He went back to prison in 2007 for five years, but, got out after 22 months and has been out for a year-and-a-half.

"Alot of the time, you have a few people doing 80-85% of the crime," said Corporal Watkins.

They hope with the 22 new counts of concealing stolen property, Sanders will remain behind bars longer, since they say it's obvious, he's not going to change his ways.

Sanders is in the Tulsa County jail on $66,000 bond. He needs to come up with 10% of that to make bond and to be back out on the streets.
